Dear students, parents, friends, and supporters of the German International School Montreal,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Alexander von Humboldt School website!
As principal of AvH since August 2025, it is particularly important to me to create a learning environment where every child feels safe, valued, and curious. For me, learning is much more than the acquisition of knowledge—it is a journey of discovery on which we grow together, ask questions, and find answers that help us move forward.
I am proud to be part of a school where trilingualism—German, English, and French—is not only taught but lived. This linguistic diversity opens up new perspectives for our students and builds bridges between cultures.
Another focus of the school is the STEM field. In the natural sciences, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills are encouraged—skills that make our children strong and confident in a changing world.
At the same time, the well-being of our students is always my top priority. Genuine learning can only take place in an atmosphere of trust, openness, and mutual respect. Every day, I see how our dedicated teachers and staff work with passion, skill, and enthusiasm to create precisely this kind of environment.
What makes our school so special to me is our vibrant community: families from different countries, cultures, and walks of life who share a common goal—to offer children the best opportunities for their future. This diversity enriches our everyday lives and makes AvH a place where learning and living come together in the most beautiful way.

International School – Three Languages – Two School Diplomas
AvH is a member of a network of over 140 German schools abroad. In 2012, we were awarded the official “Excellent School Abroad” seal of approval by the German government. We are recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec. Therefore, we can offer two degrees: the internationally respected and globally recognized German International baccalauréat (Abitur), which allows a seamless transition to university studies, as well as the Quebec Secondary School Diploma, which leads to CEGEP. Our school’s academic success is clearly reflected in the fact that our graduates go on to the world’s leading universities.
Since its founding in 1980, AvH has been educating students of German, Canadian and international origin. Our graduates acquire a wide range of skills and competencies and they master three languages: German, French and English. All this prepares them especially well for the challenges of our global world.
